Dead: Jamal Green

Jamal Green, a 26-year-old mechanic of Durban Street, Lodge in Georgetown, was stabbed to death on Friday during a row with another male.

The incident occurred at about 13:30hrs on July 4, 2025, between Robb and Albert Street, Georgetown.

The suspect, Keon Belgrave, a 30-year-old taxi driver from Sophia squatting area, was arrested and is in Police custody.

According to the police, investigations disclosed that the suspect was driving motor car PXX 7379, heading south, while the victim was riding a motorcycle, CN 9595, behind the suspect, heading in the same direction. It is alleged that the victim rode up alongside the suspect and told the suspect that he should have hit him with his car.

The victim then rode up a short distance and stopped his motorcycle. The suspect also drove up and stopped where the victim was, and got out of the car.

According to a 30-year-old eyewitness, he was at a store at the corner of Robb and Albert Street, when he observed the victim at the time had a piece of iron in his hand and he dealt the suspect a lash to his back.

The suspect went back into his car, took out a knife, approached the victim and a scuffle ensued during which the suspect stabbed the victim three times to his back, causing the victim to fall to the ground.

EMT responded at the scene, and the victim was picked up and rushed to the GPHC, where he was later pronounced dead by Doctor Walcott while receiving treatment.

The suspect was arrested at the scene, and a Police officer recovered a knife and an iron at the scene. The scene was processed, and CCTV cameras were seen in the area, which captured the scuffle between the victim and the suspect.

The body is at the GPHC’s mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.

A video/audio interview was conducted with the suspect, and under caution, he stated that he was driving his vehicle south along Albert Street when he turned the steering wheel, and the victim rode up alongside him and told him he should have hit him. They had an argument, and they both drove off.

At the corner of Robb and Albert Street, the victim again confronted him with a steel pipe, dealt him a lash across his back and returned to his motorcycle. The suspect then armed himself with a knife from his car, and he and the victim started to scuffle, during which the victim was stabbed.

Investigations continue.
