

Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred on Camp Road and Carifesta Avenue, in the vicinity of the Everest Cricket Ground in Georgetown, which resulted in the death of Christopher Rohaman, a 31-year-old resident of Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara.
The accident occurred on Saturday (June 7, 2025) at about 00:20 hrs.
At the time, Rohaman was driving hisnmotorcar, #PAB 5434, proceeding North along the western drive lane of Camp Road at a fast rate, and on the approach of the intersection formed with Carifesta Avenue, the driver lost control of his vehicle and collided with a light pole on the western side of Camp Road. The vehicle ended up in a nearby trench several feet away. The driver was pinned inside the vehicle and sustained injuries to his body.
The Ambulance service was summoned, and ambulance #PAJ 1054 later arrived at the scene. The driver was taken out of the vehicle in an unconscious condition by the Emergency Medical Technicians, placed into the ambulance and transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Accident & Emergency Unit, where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and was pronounced dead on arrival. His body is presently lying in the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
