Haiti`s New PM To Address Miami Caribbean Conference


CaribWorldNews, MIAMI, FL, Tues. Dec. 1, 2009: Haiti`s new Prime Minister, Jean Max Bellerive, is set to deliver one of the key note addresses tonight at the annual Miami Conference on the Caribbean.

Bellerive, 51, who took office last month following the firing of the last PM, is set to speak at the dinner time portion of the event at the InterContinental Hotel in downtown Miami, Sun Sentinel reports indicate.

Haiti-focused events at the conference are taking place at the InterContinental Hotel in downtown Miami from Monday through Wednesday.

Other conference speakers include Albert Ramdin, Assistant Secretary General, Organization of American States; Senator Bob Graham, John Maginley, Ministry of Tourism, Antigua and Barbuda; Louis Patrick Hill, President of the Senate, U.S. Virgin Islands; Ralph O`Neil, Ministry of Finance, British Virgin Islands; Panama`s minister of commerce, Rick C. Wade, Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Commerce; Walter Bastian, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce, Western Hemisphere; Velia de Pirro, Director for the Caribbean, US Department of State; Joe Garcia, Office of Economic Impact of the US Department of Energy and Craig Kelly, principal deputy assistant secretary of state.

The annual event is hosted by the Caribbean Central American Action which claims as its goals, facilitating trade and investment by fostering constructive dialogue between the private and public sectors to improve the policy and regulatory environments for business at the local, regional, and international levels. The conference runs through Dec. 2nd.
