Grenada PM Reshuffles Cabinet


CaribWorldNews, ST. GEORGE`S, Grenada, Fri. July 31, 2009: Thirteen months after winning the July 8, 2008 general elections, Grenada Prime Minister Tillman Thomas has reshuffled his cabinet.

Minister Peter David, who was responsible for the ministries of tourism and foreign affairs, will now only be responsible for foreign affairs, while Glennis Robert who was the Minister for social development will now be responsible for tourism only.

Sylvester Quarless who was the junior minister for the environment will now be responsible for social development.

Thomas also announced the creation of two new ministries – the ministries of Environment, Foreign Trade and Export Development to be headed by Michael Church and labour, social security and ecclesiastical affairs, which will be led by Karl Hood.

The new ministries were formerly tagged on to other ministries. Environment was part of the Ministries of Works, Physical Development and Public Utilities while Foreign Trade was part of the Finance, Planning, Economy, Energy and Cooperatives
