

The body of a Corentyne fisherman was on Monday morning discovered on the parapet at First Street, Grant 1806, Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
The man has since been identified as 40-year-old Umar Jumai, who resided in the community.
The discovery was made by a passersby sometime around 7:00h.
Jumai lived alone. His sister, Nariman Jumai, said a friend showed her a photo of her brother’s lifeless body lying on the parapet, two streets away.
The woman said before she left home to head to the scene, police arrived at her house and took her to the location to identify the man. The woman said she observed her brother in a crouched position.
“When they take him and put him on the road, if you see how the blood shooting out,” the sister expressed.
Jumai had recently returned from sea and was scheduled to leave again this Sunday.
Police have arrested at least two fishermen who worked with Jumai, as investigations continue.
