Caribana To Take Over Toronto


CaribWorldNews, TORONTO, Canada, Fri. July 31, 2009: Lake Shore Boulevard West in Toronto is set to come alive tomorrow with the festivities of the 2009 Scotiabank Caribana carnival.

Some 10,000 bedazzled masqueraders and many more spectators  will play mas to calypso, soca and steelpan beats for the annual event.

The parade will run for 3.6 kilometres over four hours. Some 36 bands are participating in this year’s parade, including 12 steel bands, 15 mas competing bands and nine guest bands

It is estimated that the event generated CD$350 million in economic activity  for the city last year.
