CaribWorldNews, KINGSTON, Jamaica, Fri. May 1, 2009: A day after he walked away largely unharmed from a car crash, the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, is dropping out of the Kingston International race.

Bolt’s agent said Thursday the triple Olympian was skipping Saturday’s running of the international in Kingston as a precaution. Ricky Simms says his client will opt out since he stepped on thorns as he got out of his wrecked BMW Wednesday and injured his left foot.

Bolt reportedly lost control of his car on a Jamaican highway Wednesday and ended up in a ditch, almost totaling his car.

He is still scheduled to race in a 150-meter street race in Manchester, England, on May 17. During that visit, he is also set to meet with football player, Christiano Ronaldo,  to help the Manchester United star boost his pace.

Meanwhile, according to the Boston Globe, Bolt had a photo shoot last Sunday featuring top Italian designer Gucci and German sportswear company Puma. It is reported that the top athlete is aiming to sign more lucrative contracts in his bid to top $10 million in earnings for a year.
