An intelligence-led operation at East La Penitence Front Road, Georgetown, on Friday has led to the discovery of an illegal firearm and several rounds of matching ammunition.
Police stated that during the operation, ranks observed a motorcar parked along the roadway, and as ranks approached the vehicle, a male exited and attempted to run.
However, he was subsequently apprehended, and during a search of his person, a .32 pistol was found hidden in his pants along with a magazine containing six live rounds of matching ammunition.
As such, the suspect, a 29-year-old security guard of East La Penitence Front Road, was arrested and taken to the East La Penitence Police Station as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, a search was also conducted on the motorcar, but nothing illegal was found.
