An intelligence led operation on Friday thwarted an alleged planned robbery on a Chinese supermarket in New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Police stated that at about14:00h on the day in question, two motor cars traveling from Georgetown were intercepted by a Senior Police Officer and other ranks at the Berbice River Bridge access road.
Four males who are from Georgetown, between the age of 18 – 29 years old were taken into custody and are assisting the Police with the discovery of a .38 revolver bearing serial number J465543 that was in a compartment beneath the steering wheel, along with five matching rounds of ammunition.
Investigations are continuing.
