The Guyana Police Force wishes to inform the public that an investigation has been launched into an alleged shooting incident that occurred in the wee hours this morning (Wednesday, April 30th, 2025), which resulted in 23-year-old Ijaaz Arjune, a businessman of Unity, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara receiving gunshot injuries.
The incident occurred at about 01:45hrs at Perseverance Village, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara.
23-year-old Arjune was shot after an altercation with two suspects in a black motorcar.
He was transported to the Mahaicony Public Hospital, where he was treated, and later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
A .32 pistol along with nine matching rounds was recovered at the scene and lodged.
Two men, a 24-year-old and 27-year-old have since been arrested. They remain in custody assisting with the ongoing investigation.
